Hill Cumorah

In 1823 an angel appeared to Joseph Smith and spoke to him concerning an ancient record containing the gospel of Jesus Christ. The angel directed him to this hill, three miles from his home. On the west side of the hill under a large rock he found a set of golden plates. He later translated these plates into a book called the Book of Mormon.
